ー 長崎 池島炭鉱 ー
炭鉱が閉じたあとも、建物は静かに残り続けています。錆びた鉄、朽ちていく壁、草に覆われた道。そこには、過ぎ去った時間だけではなく、今もなお積み重なり続ける時間がありました。
AFTERGLOW は、長崎県池島を歩きながら、その場所に残された「時間」と「光」を見つめた写真集です。
光は、刹那を照らす。時間は、その刹那を積み重ねる。写真は、その二つが出会う場所に生まれると考えます。
失われていくものの中に残る美しさ。静けさの中に感じる、人々のかつての情熱、熱量。そして今、誰もいなくなった場所でさえ、時間は静かに流れ、降り積もり続けています。
ー AFTERGLOW ー
Once, this island was filled with people's lives and the passage of time.
Even after the coal mine closed, the buildings remained in silence. Rusting steel, weathered walls, and paths slowly being reclaimed by nature.
Yet within these traces of the past, there was something more than what had been left behind— time was still quietly accumulating.
AFTERGLOW is a photographic journey through Ikeshima, an island in Nagasaki, Japan, looking closely at the relationship between time and light.
Light illuminates a single moment. Time gathers those moments, one after another. And photography is born where the two meet.
The beauty that remains within what is disappearing. The traces of lives once lived, felt in the silence. And even in places where no one remains, time continues to move quietly.
